The Rettangolo is a long rectangular butcher-block cutting board made from full-length staves of European maple, a finer-grained European cousin of the American hardwood used in most professional kitchens. At nearly two feet long, it's sized for serving as much as for prep — a charcuterie spread, a long loaf of bread, a whole side of cured salmon. Both sides are smooth and food-safe. The display side has a shallow carved bowl, set off-center — sized for ricotta, jam, a small mound of olives, or a dollop of dip. The cut side is flat and ready for work.

Two corners are carved into a shallow paraboloid curve. On the display side, those corners read as scooped facets — the eye sees a rectangle softened on two sides. Flip the board over and the same curves create useful negative space: lift the board easily with one hand, or push chopped onions over the edge while a plate sits underneath to catch them — the carved corner becomes a spout.

At 23.62 inches long and over 13 pounds, it's a serious working surface that holds the center of a table. Heavy enough to stay put while you chop, long enough to plate dinner for six, beautiful enough to bring straight from the kitchen to the dining room.
